Who we are
These apps are published by Search Ventures Pty Ltd (ACN 639 906 353), trading as Practice Test App. For anything in this policy, use the support form.
What stays on your device
Everything about your studying. Your answers, which questions you have seen, your scores, streaks, review schedule and settings are stored on the phone itself and are never transmitted to us.
There is no account to create, so we hold no name, email address or password. We do not assign you a user id or a device id.
What we do not collect
The apps contain no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising or attribution software. This is not a setting that is switched off, the code is simply not in the app. That is why the App Store listing reports Data Not Collected.
The AI explanation, the one exception
On a question you have already answered, you can ask for an AI explanation. Only if you tap it, and only for that question, we send:
- the question text and its answer choices
- which choice you picked, and which one is correct
- the written explanation and reference already stored in the app
- the category the question belongs to
- the language the app is set to
- if you typed your own question instead of using a preset, your text
Nothing in that request identifies you. There is no account, no device identifier and no history of your previous requests: each one is built from scratch and sent on its own.
The request goes to a service we run on Cloudflare, which passes it to Cloudflare Workers AI to generate the answer. Cloudflare may cache the request and its response to serve repeat questions faster. Cloudflare also sees the IP address the request came from, which is used to limit how many requests one device can make in a minute. We do not store the request, the response or the IP address ourselves, though Cloudflare keeps short-lived operational logs of these requests so we can see why one failed.
If you never tap the AI explanation, nothing about your studying leaves your device. The app does check for app updates when it launches, which tells our update provider only which version of the app you are running.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. Payment happens in the App Store and we never see your card details, billing address or Apple ID. The app checks with Apple on the device to confirm whether a subscription is active, and stores only that answer locally.
Backups you create
You can export your progress to a file from the app settings. That file is created on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet, so it goes wherever you choose to send it. It is not uploaded to us.
When you contact us
If you use the support form or email us, we receive your email address, your message, and the app version and build number if the form supplied them. We use this only to answer you, and we keep it only as long as needed for that.
The support form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a submission is not automated. Turnstile is a privacy-preserving alternative to a CAPTCHA and does not track you across websites.
Children
These apps are study tools for people preparing for professional and military entrance exams. They are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since we collect no personal information at all, there is nothing held about any user regardless of age.
Your rights
Rights to access, correct or delete personal information generally apply to information an organization holds about you. We hold none from ordinary use of the apps, so there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Deleting the app removes your study data from the device, and we cannot recover it.
If you have emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, or in California, the same practices apply: we do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to what the apps send will also be described in the App Store release notes.
